Gambos - The works financed by the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), in the southern province of Huíla, will all be completed between August and September this year, provincial governor Luís Nunes da Fonseca announced Friday in the municipality of Gambos.
These are projects related to education, with a construction of 57 infrastructure, 32 health units, 26 roads, 21 electricity facilities, water with 19, 14 public buildings and social facilities with, housing with six, environment with four and five targeted support programmes for agribusiness.
In the municipalities of Matala, 23 projects are underway, Lubango (22), Jamba, Gambos and Humpata (15 each), Quipungo (14), Caluquembe (13), Cuvango and Chibia (12 each) and Quilengues (10).
Up to now, 39 works have been officially inaugurated in the 14 municipalities of Huíla, the first in the country with works financed by PIIM that was completed and delivered.
PIIM in Huíla was launched in June 2019, with a portfolio of 184 projects, estimated at 41 billion Kwanzas.
The provincial governor, who was speaking at the end of a visit to the PIIM projects in Gambos, said that although some works are delayed by two or three months due to Covid-19, they will be able to make up for lost time.
"We are convinced that in August or September the works of PIIM will all be completed", guaranteed Luís Nunes da Fonseca.
Among the PIIM works visited in the municipality of Gambos, 150 kilometres south of Lubango, are the water supply projects in the village of Chiange, irrigation, asphalting the village (1500 meters) and the construction and equipping of the hospital municipal.
He also noted the construction of a school with 12 classrooms, an earthworks of 60 kilometres, requalification of 23 water points and a children's and community education centre (CIC-CEC).
