Ondjiva – At least 223 tons of food goods and hospital equipments were delivered last Friday by the government to the Angolan refugees who returned from Namibia and were resettled in the center of displaced people of Calueque, municipality of Ombadja, province of Cunene.
In the products that were delivered by the minister of State and Head of the Military House, Francisco Pereira Furtado, is also included a tractor to help families in agriculture in a prepared area of 10 acres situated on the banks of the Cunene river as well as an ambulance to support the medical center assembled in the camping.
On the occasion, Francisco Furtado highlighted the commitment of the Angolan Government in creating the necessary conditions to support the families who are returning back to the country after some months in Namíbia in which they were seeking for solutions to stop the drought in the region.
The official affirmed that the work held by the local government was determinant to make Calueque as installation point of the reception center which the families will remain the necessary time until the returned conditions are created in the origin zone.
The minister of State appealed the population to commit themselves in agriculture to create a base for their self-sufficient and to get out of the donations dependency.
The first 1000 people of the more than 7000 Angolan citizens who have taken refuge in Namíbia because of the drought in the southern region of Angola returned last Wednesday to the country.
In addition to the logistic and material conditions in the local there is also a health team that is holding the covid-19 and malaria test and the administration of vaccines to fight the pandemic.
