Camacupa - The National Children's Institute (INAC) is since Monday running a cycle of training on child protection systems, with the aim of significantly reduce violence against minors this year.
The event held in Camacupa municipality is expected to be extended throughout the province by the end of the first half of the year.
The training is aimed above all at the members of the Child Protection Network of the nine municipalities and includes the participation of civil society, with the aim of guaranteeing the implementation of the government’s child protection policies.
According to the head of INAC's services in Bié province, Vasco Cambovo, the idea is to equip the network to be more proactive in protecting children.
He said, topics such as the flow of care for child victims of violence, the SOS-child complaint service and the functioning of the Municipal Network for the Protection and Promotion of Children's Rights will be taught during the training.
In 2023, Bié reported 1,705 cases of violence against children, compared to 1,140 in 2022 occurred in the municipalities of Cuito, Andulo, Camacupa, Catabola, Cuemba, Chinguar, Chitembo, Cunhinga and Nhârea.
Of the reported cases, 756 were child labor exploitation, 500 physical violence, 223 psychological violence, 157 paternity denials and 16 sexual abuses, 17 attempted abductions of minors, six abandoned new-born and three murders. AS/JEC/PLB/AMP
