Malanje- A sum of one billion and 680 million kwanzas will be disbursed, starting next May, by the “Kwenda” Social Protection Strengthening Program, for the payment of two new installments to 35,455 families in vulnerable situations in three municipalities of Malanje.
There are 17,163 households in the municipality of Calandula, 10,800 families in Luquembo and seven 7,492 in Cambundi-catembo.
Information was provided Friday, to ANGOP, by the director of the Local Development Institute (FAS) in Malanje, Gomes Golambole, stating that, at this time, the process of proof of life of the families covered is taking place, which will be followed by payment of the benefits.
He stressed that the predicted values will stimulate the local economy and move people from one stage of life to another.
The person in charge explained that the FAS strategy is to place municipalities on the same level in terms of payment, which is why, at this stage, Quirima will not be served, due to the fact that the four thousand 140 households registered in the district have already benefited from four installments.
He guaranteed that the Institute continues to provide technical assistance and instill financial education to beneficiaries, in order to avoid applying the values for purposes that are not in line with the project.
On the other hand, Gomes Golambole pointed out that the process of expanding the Kwenda program to new municipalities continues in Cahombo, Marimba and Kiwaba Nzoji, where 19 thousand 639 families are already in the registration phase in the Social Protection System.
He made it known that as soon as the floods in the region cease, the first payments will be made in these municipalities.
Operated by the Local Development Fund (FAS), Kwenda was created in 2020 by the Angolan Executive, with a view to creating policies to support the most vulnerable families. The program is valued at US$420 million and is financed by the World Bank, with US$320 million.
The other 100 million comes from the National Treasury. Along with Social Monetary Transfers, the program has a component of Productive Inclusion, Municipalization of Social Action and Single Social Registration. ACC/PBC/TED/DOJ
