Huambo – The minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Mass Media, Mário Oliveira, called this Saturday for greater contribution from the sector's staff at different levels, so that it continues to be the “engine” of national development.
The government official was speaking at the closing of the II Consultative Council of the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Mass Media (MINTTICS), which took place from the 8th to the 9th of this month, in the auditorium of the Journalist Training Center (CEFOJOR), located on the outskirts of the city of Huambo, under the motto “Connect and Communicate for Citizenship".
Mário Oliveira said that the country's development does not only refer to the economic and industrial system, but also in academia and among young inventors, as these are counted so that, in the future, Angola takes its place in the concert of nations, from the science's point of view.
He highlighted that without science and research there is no development and the MINTTICS sector, given its role in society, has an important mission in the national development system.
He said that the sector has been vibrant and active, with collaboration in several areas, to achieve the objectives recommended in the country.
Mário Oliveira recalled that Angola is to host the international conference “New Space Africa” in the first week of April, which will address the African Space Program.
He explained that the event will take place within the scope of the African space agency, in which Angola, through the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), has been playing an important role, occupying a prominent place in its obligations, in addition to be a member of an international satellite technical management team.
He also recalled that MINTTICS will hold ANGOTIC'2024 next June, which all members of the sector need to embrace and be involved in for its success.
The official highlighted that press attachés in Angola's diplomatic missions abroad have the responsibility of showing the real Angola, with a focus on attracting more investors and tourists.
He considered the contribution of women in the sector and in the country in general to be crucial, who, through the role played, have increased the well-being of Angolan society.
During the event, five panels were discussed on the MINTTICS strategic plan and projects, with emphasis on the challenges of the Telecommunications and Information Technologies and Social Communication subsector, ongoing projects and programs, staffing and career plan.
There was also talk about the Angolan Executive's national institutional communication plan, the sector's legislative and spatial program, the Angola Hoje portal and TV Angola, modernization and challenges of public companies in the sector, as well as their experience and challenges.
The meeting was attended by the secretaries of State of MINTTICS, Boards of Directors of companies in the sector, national directors and general directors of supervised institutions, consultants, directors of the Institutional Communication offices, press attachés, directors of the provincial Social Communication offices and partner associations.
