Luanda - The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Media (MINTTICS) Mário de Oliveira on Friday in Luanda said the foreign press is an important partner for Angola’s social and economic growth , by displaying the reality of the country and contributing to economic diplomacy.
"By publicizing credible, serious and responsible information about Angola's reality, so that from their countries we can attract investors who will contribute to the diversification and development of our economy," said the minister.
The minister made the statement during a meeting with correspondents accredited in Angola, whose aim was to strengthen cooperation ties between the Angolan government and the foreign press.
Mario de Oliveira emphasized that the press can help the country achieve greater visibility abroad, adding that the government is creating this rapprochement so that in fact it can contribute to the development of Angola's economy.
Regarding press freedom in the country, the minister pointed to compliance with laws, rules and respect for institutions as fundamental pillars.
"The country has freedom as a result of democracy. We have a number of private organizations and, nowadays, communication is not just limited to the traditional media” the minister said.
Mário de Oliveira recalled that the market is flooded with a high number of web pages that many times contributes to what is the reality of the country and sometimes not.
