Luanda - The Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Social Communication (MINTTICS) announced Friday the creation of a Social Welfare Fund to assist media professionals.
The announcement was made during a meeting called "Matabicho with journalists".
According to the minister, Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira, the fund will serve to help professionals of the sector after retirement.
The minister appealed to all media professionals, public and private, to sign up for the project to be publicly presented within the next few days.
During the meeting, the minister reaffirmed the commitment to the training of staff at the Journalists Training Centre (Cefojor) and the Telecommunications Institute of Luanda (ITEL).
Minister Mário Oliveira stressed the importance of cybersecurity to ensure the network systems of companies linked to the sector, avoiding attacks by hackers.
The minister asked for a collaboration between the private and public media houses professionals, as well as the interaction among several generations.
Mário Oliveira also spoke about the social networks, asking for everyone's contribution for its responsible and rational use, so that it does not become a weapon that destroys organisations and nations when badly used.
In his turn, the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Nuno Caldas, said that the Social Welfare Fund fits in the national information policy, one of the fundamental axis which is the valorisation and dignifying the staff.
According to Nuno Albino Caldas, besides training and improvement, it has actions to support, in a complementary way, the social conditions of the media workers.
The meeting was attended by the CEOs of public and private bodies, journalists and executives from the sector.
