Luanda - Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTTICS) condemned Saturday the intimidation and attack against journalists of Angolan Public Television (TPA) and TV Zimbo during the demonstration staged by the main opposition UNITA party in Luanda.
In a press release, reacting to the actions of violence against the reporting teams from the two Media outlets, MINTTICS described this attitude as an unqualified attitude and a violation against the exercise of press freedom.
MINTTICS regrets what happened stating that the rights enshrined in the Constitution were at stake.
It called on UNITA to take responsibilities and help the authorities to identify the offenders of this regrettable action in a Democratic State and under the rule of law.
The MINTTICS takes the opportunity to appeal to journalists' defence organisations to equally assume their responsibilities, not remaining silent in the face of the flagrant and reprehensible situation of political intolerance.
The Ministerial Department is in solidarity with all journalists, mainly those from TV Zimbo and TPA, and calls on the media not to be intimidated by those who refuse to live together in a democracy.
