Luanda – The ruling MPLA party defended this Saturday, in Luanda, the tangibility of gender equality policies that ensure effective emancipation and promotion, guaranteeing equal opportunities in education, employment and active participation in political, economic and sociocultural life.
In a message alluding to Angolan Women's Day, marked on March 2, the MPLA Political Bureau reiterated its praise for all Angolan women who, due to their achievements, have their names written in the pages of Angola's history.
“With emphasis on the heroines Deolinda Rodrigues, Lucrécia Paim, Engrácia dos Santos, Irene Cohen, Teresa Afonso and other anonymous people who made their valuable contribution to the independence of Angola”, reads the note.
On the other hand, it recognizes and encourages permanent concern of Angolan women in raising their academic, technical and professional level, as decisive factors for the achievement and exercise of management and leadership roles in all variants of political, administrative and business power.
The ruling party defends the reinforcement of policies aimed at empowering women, whose role as motherhood places them in a social position of extreme and unique importance, worthy of special attention.
The MPLA Politiburo calls on Angolan women and society in general to celebrate the 2nd of March, which takes place within the scope of “Jornada Março Mulher” (March Woman Journey).
The message from the MPLA Political Bureau highlights the need to also celebrate the 8th of March, International Women's Day, with high euphoria and a feeling of active participation in the various actions that contribute to the materialization of the patriotic imperative in “Serving the people and make Angola grow”.
