Saurimo - The OMA's provincial secretary in the eastern Lunda-Sul Province, Maria Mabaia, stated Tuesday in Saurimo City that the organization will continue to bet on the training of women, so that they can assume leadership positions at governmental level and understand the country’s development policies.

The OMA's secretary made these statements at the opening of the March-Women day, highlighting that in this way they can also contribute, responsibly, to strengthening the OMA, as well as mobilizing new activists.

She explained that OMA must work to honor the memories of the heroines, who were at the genesis of its foundation, with emphasis on Deolinda Rodrigues, Lucrécia, Paím, Irene Cohen, among other figures.

Maria Mabaia added that the 2nd of March aims to honor the five heroines who fought for National Independence, allowing women greater skills, security and their place in the “golden pages of the country”.

She recommended that women affiliated with OMA be more united in favor of the efforts of the President of their party and the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, in carrying out projects that aim to promote progress and social harmony in the country.

During the “March-Woman” day, under the motto “Angolan woman for the promotion of gender equity, inclusive participation and development”, photographic exhibitions will be held, a reflection meeting on the historical importance of Angolan women, challenges and opportunities, visits to the base committees of the municipality of Saurimo and the Catoca Mining Society.
