Luanda - The Union of Angolan Journalists (UJA) this Wednesday, in Luanda, considered António Piçara, former ANGOP journalist, a notable professional.
António Piçara died on Monday (12), victim of illness.
The condolence note sent to ANGOP recalls that the deceased entered Angolan journalism through the “agency's doors” in the 1980s, where he performed several roles, with emphasis on political desk editor, national newsroom editor-in-chief and regional delegate for the provinces of Huíla, Namibe and Cunene.
Formally committed to the profession, Piçarra was also part of the company Executve Center (a company that is owner of the magazines Economia e Mercado, Sabores and Austral ART) as Editor-in-Chief.
The António Piçarra's CV also mentions him as member of UJA, and editor-in-chief of the private newspaper AGORA.
In the document, the UJA expresses that Piçarra honestly aligned his journalistic approaches, based on ethical and deontological values, which makes him a professional committed to the class.
In this hour of mourning and pain, the UJA's Executive Secretariat laments the misfortune that leaves the class more impoverished and addresses feelings of regret to ANGOP journalists and to the family of the late journalist.
