Luanda - International exchange in the space sector aimed to render the country’s industry more competitive dominated the participation of the National Space Programme Management Office (GGPEN) in the International Astronautics Congress (IAC2022), held on 18 - 22 Sept in Paris, France.
The meetings discussed the issues related to the international exchange of GGPEN, which makes up one of the five pillars of the National Space
Strategy, a press note from GGPEN has stated.
Angop learnt that the Angolan delegation, led by the director-general, Zolana João, participated in several meetings with government institutions
and companies.
They include NASA, ESA and the Space Agencies of Brazil, France, South Africa, Rwanda, as well as AIRBUS, Thales Alenia Space and Ariane Group.
GGPEN says they reviewed the project “Support for Drought Management in Angola, aimed to use Integrated Modeling of the Environment, Vulnerability, Decision Making and Technology (EVDT).
The aforementioned project is intended to create a system to support the drought decision in Angola, which has financial support of US$550,000 from
NASA, in a request for support made by Danielle Wood, through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The participants learnt of space applications developed by the institution's specialists, including the TECH–ECOLOGIA, TECH-GEST and TECH-AGRO services.
The project is due to start in the coming months.
