Angolan inventors win 14 medals at innovation fair

Luanda – Angolan inventors won 14 medals as the result of the quality of the products Made in Angola and its social impact displayed at the Fair of Ideas, Innovation and New Products (IENA), held in Germany.

The medals feature three gold, two silver and nine bronze.

The fair, which took place in Nuremberg, in Germany, from October 27 to 30, once again enabled Angola to be known through its local products.

                                                                                 Gold Medals

The project "Secure Storage'', from the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Agostinho Neto University (UAN), aims to solve problems of domestic violence.

In the secure archive, people create an account, where they can define the aggressor and upload online the images, video or audio of some action of the aggressor.

The "Integrated Pest Control System" is the project of the Methodist University of Angola (UMA), an application aimed at assisting farmers in the strategy of integrated management of Pests and Diseases that affect the agricultural plantation.

The project "Permanent air purifier, in schools and offices", from the creator Ricardo Augusto Antunes Figueiredo (CPLP, is a device that uses an automatic system to take the air from inside the room, incinerate the same air, with a heating of 110 degrees Celsius, burning any virus that is contained in it.

 Silver Medals

 The project Kubahna - Online Donation, from the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Natural Sciences, UAN, portrays the prolonged situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, which ravaged the world.  

 In it are visible the great difficulties that families and charities face in meeting the most basic needs in terms of food.

 The project "Silo dryer of grains based on natural air" (second silver medal), from the Methodist University of Angola, aims to give autonomy to the grain producer, reduce costs and improve the quality of corn, beans, soybeans and all other types of grains used in food.

 Bronze Medals

 The project "Angolan Web Archive", from the Research and Technological Innovation Center (I&IT), Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Natural Sciences (UAN), is an archive service that guarantees the preservation of the information published by the Angolan Web.

 The same service is a web mapping that allows the visualization and spatial search of documents, a search engine focused on themes and contents of Angola. 

"Diakako Luzingu"(More Life ...) project of the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Natural Sciences (UAN), is a free mobile application that can help mitigate the difficulty of blood donors that our hospitals face, since the lack of blood has a negative impact on the quality of life and well-being of patients.

 "Ndjukulu" (Safe Mobility ...), from the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Natural Sciences (UAN) is an application to support citizens in  Luanda city finding the best route to reach a certain location.

 "Use of Electronic Waste in the perspective of the 4Rs" (reduce, reuse, recycle, rethink), from the Methodist University of Angola (UMA), Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Natural Sciences (UMA), is a project, which besides being in line with the need to improve sustainability, enables Angola to start giving firm and safe steps in raising awareness for the treatment and recycling of electronic waste, especially computer equipment.

 "Intelligent traffic light with holographic projection," by the Methodist University of Angola and the Faculty of Natural Sciences (UAN), is a project differentiated from most older generation traffic lights, which change according to specified intervals, during the busiest times of the day.

 "Production of drinking water from salt water and other sources", from the Methodist University of Angola (UMA) and the Faculty of Natural Sciences (UAN), is a system that proposes to solve the problems of water shortage by transforming, for example, salt water into drinking water.

 "Quidiuris Platform" of CPPPGL and the Agostinho Neto University", is a web application that works as a virtual officious justice provider, created to assist both justice agents and society in general, in their performance and relationship with legal entities, offering a set of solutions, through cutting-edge tools and technologies.

 "ProjSeg - Secure Projection", from the Methodist University of Angola (UMA), is a multifaceted platform that performs the projection of holograms. It aims to be a tool for reducing road accidents, through the application of a holistic projection system, called ProjSeg "MALEMBE".

"TCHIWA - System for Evaluating the Agricultural Aptitude of the Soil", by freelancer Paulino Calei Alves Domingos, is an expert system whose main objective is to suggest the agricultural aptitude of a certain type of soil, through the result of chemical analysis, informed by the farmer.

 The farmer can use the application to predict the type of crop to be put on the soil, correct the agricultural space with the recommendations provided, among other functionalities.

 At the 72nd edition of the Fair of Ideas, Innovations and New Products (IENA 2021) the Angolan delegation was composed of 10 people, including university officials and inventors, and presented 17 projects, of which two were awarded gold medals, three silver and three bronze, for a total of eight medals.
