Luanda -The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Media Mário Oliveira on Friday said that the participation of the sector he leads in the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport is to provide tools that enable the airport system to work.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the new international airport, the minister added that it is also the responsibility of the ministry and telecommunications operators, as well as social media, to provide services for this new airport infrastructure in the country.
“This is how national operators have installed services on the perimeter of this airport that can make it functional for its users, namely mobile telephony, and with it internet services, data transmission for all operators, whether aeronautical or commercial, that come to operate in this infrastructure”, the minister said.
The minister underscored that the sector will also manage the meteorological systems installed at the airport in a space reserved for the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (INAMET), which allows weather forecasting and everything that happens within the airport perimeter.
“It is an entire ecosystem that allows this top airport to be transformed, so that users can feel that they are receiving quality service”, the minister highlighted.
The infrastructure occupies an area of 1,324 hectares, has capacity for 15 million passengers and a cargo volume of 130 thousand tons per year. AC/Cf/AMP
