Environment implements sustainable development plan

Luanda - A national program for sustainable development will start to be implemented in June of this year in the country, by the Ministry of the Environment, informed Friday, in Luanda, minister, Paula Francisco.

Speaking to Angop, regarding the sector's programs, the Cabinet minister said that the strategy foresees the holding of regional forums at the country level, within the scope of the National Development Plan (PDN).

She stressed that the strategy will be based on goals 13,14 and 15 on Climate Change, while mentioning the transversal nature of the sector.

The official said that the program also includes debates on issues related to access to land, resilience and biodiversity, among other issues.

She explained that the strategy aims to adopt measures to combat climate change and its negative impacts, as well as to promote the preservation and sustainable use of the oceans, seas and marine resources.

Supporting sustainable development, protecting, recovering and promoting the sustainable use of ecosystems and biodiversity, as well as combating desertification are other objectives of the program, said the official.

Therefore, she admitted that there is a need for the country to review its statistical data related to sustainable development.
