Luanda - The Angolan national roller hockey team player João Pinto was elected Most Valuable Player (MVP), besides being the best scorer, of the first African championship of this sport, which took place in Kilamba pavilion, in Luanda, and finished last Sunday with Angola conquering the trophy.

João Pinto, who plays for Sporting of Portugal, scored eight goals.

The prize for Best Goalkeeper of the competition went to the Angolan player Francisco Veludo, who only suffered three goals, while Egypt took the prize for Fair-play Team.

Angola also had three players chosen to be part of the Ideal Team, alongside the Mozambican Filipe Nabais and Mário Rodrigues.

The Angolan squad ended in the first position with four points, thus gaining the pass to Elite-8 World Cup, set to happen in July this year in Barcelona, Spain.

The second position was taken by Mozambique (two points), followed by Egypt with no point.

The championship was disputed by three teams due to the desistance of South Africa from participating in the competition due o financial difficulties.
