Luanda - Former athlete of the national team, José do Amaral Júnior "Maninho" is a candidate for the presidency of the Angolan Handball Federation (FAAND), confirmed last Monday to ANGOP, in Luanda, a source linked to the group that promotes his candidacy.

The choice of the former left wing of Petro de Luanda and 1º de Agosto squads is based on the continuation of the work carried out by the current board, led by Pedro Godinho, of which Amaral Júnior is part.

The list of the sports managers for this year's elections (2020/2024 Quadrennial) includes other sport figures, with emphasis on Tony Costa, Víctor Lemos and Bráulio Brito.

José do Amaral Júnior trained as an athlete at Petro Atlético de Luanda, then moved to 1º de Agosto, where he became five times national champion in the period 1983/1987.

Speaking to ANGOP, Pedro Godinho reiterated the intention of no longer running for another term at the helm of FAAND to focus on other personal and sporting projects.

With this position, the former practitioner marks the end of a three-term reign, being the tenth president of the Angolan Handball Federation (FAAND).
