Camacupa's Agro-Industrial Farm to reduce food import

Camacupa - Agro-Industrial Farm of Camacupa in central Bié province will contribute to reduction of food imports, especially corn, soybeans, beans and rice.


The pledge came from minister of National Defence and Veterans of Motherland, João Ernesto dos Santos "Liberdade" on Saturday
 

The minister was speaking to the press at the end of a visit to the institution, accompanied by provincial governor Pereira Alfredo.

He said that his sector, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, is working to overcome the problems experiences by the farm.

Camacupa Agro-Industrial Farm, which generates 100 jobs, has been under the management of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) since 2019. It was created by the Sovereign Fund in 2012.
 

In turn, the provincial governor highlighted the valences of the farm, adding that the sector he leads intends to make it more productive, as part of “sustainable” financing policy.

Major José da Fonseca, the technical coordinator of the farm, said that at the moment more than two thousand hectares are being corrected with limestone to produce five tons of corn.
 

He defended the recovery of ten irrigation systems, which had been damaged 10 years ago, as well as the purchase of agricultural inputs and machines to increase production.
