Luanda - Sixty two new cases of covid-19 have been reported in the last 24 hours in Angola, the highest in one day since the pandemic reached the country in March this year, bringing the total to 458 infections.

The information was released Thursday evening in Luanda by the Health minister, Sílvia Lutucuta, who said one death was recorded in the same period.

Delivering the daily covid-19 update briefing, the minister said the positive cases include 12 females, all in the capital Luanda.

She said the dead was a patient who was in critical condition in a Luanda covid-19 hospital.

The minister also explained that the positive cases were detected following a mass testing operation in places of high concentration of people like markets, police and military facilities and screening centres.

With these new cases, Angola’s covid-19 statistics show 458 positive cases, 23 deaths, 117 recoveries and 319 active patients.
