Dundo - Health Minister Silvia Lutucuta encouraged professionals in the sector in Dundo, Lunda Norte to specialise themselves to prevent the state from spending money on importing specialist doctors.

Minister Silvia Lutucuta was answering this Tuesday about the lack of orthopaedic doctors in Lunda Norte province, at the end of her visit of a few hours, with the aim of finding out about the rehabilitation work of the Dundo Diagnostic Centre, where the local laboratory for the Covid-19 test will be installed.

"Our young nurses, who are entering the tender, have to be trained by making specialisations, in order to avoid the importation of staff which is more expensive for the State", she stressed.

According to the minister, the Health ministry will work to find solutions, both inside and outside the country, for the training and/or specialization of several cadres newly entered in the tender.

Regarding Lunda Norte's need, she said that the ministry would work with the Cuban government to hire an orthopaedic doctor, preventing citizens from travelling to Lunda Sul in search of this service.

The province currently has 14 hospitals, 19 health centres and 69 health posts, totalling 102 hospital units, provided by 64 doctors and 800 nurses.
