Angola: Luanda to host international theological week in February

Luanda - Luanda Archdiocese is set to host the 1st International Theological Week (SITL), between 01 and 04 February this year, under the motto "theology in the face of today's challenges in Africa", announced Friar Candeeiro, during a press conference.

The Brother Candeeiro said that the objective is to reflect on the theology's answers to the main problems facing Africa today, such as wars, hunger, diseases and youth unemployment.

He added that the meeting will bring synergies among the theologians of the continent with a view to producing a more active theology.

The event will also produce conclusions and recommendations to be presented to the Churches of Africa and their pastors as a contribution to the experience of their talents and mission.

The week will promote theological study and debate around the problems facing the continent.

The event will begin with an opening Mass presided over by the Archbishop of Luanda, Dom Filomeno Vieira Dias, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Urban District of Nova Vida, Kilamba Kiaxi municipality, the source stressed.

The meeting will be attended by Bishops of the Episcopal Conference of Angola and São Tomé (Ceast).

Rectors of the Theological Seminars of Angola, senior seminarians of the 4th year of theology, professors of the Faculty of UCAN Theology, priests, Pastors of the Christian churches in Angola, academicians and national researchers, will also join the event, said that source.
