Angola: Mass Media ready for electoral challenge - minister

Luanda - The regional meetings of media officials constituted an arrangement exercise aimed at developing, with a spirit of mission, the electoral coverage of the August 23 elections.

It was said by the Minister of Mass Media, José Luís de Matos on Friday, at the opening of the III and last regional meeting, which brought together professionals from northern Angola (Cabinda, Zaire, Luanda and Bengo) to assess the existing human, technical and technological conditions for the aforementioned undertaking.

The meetings were organized by the Ministry of Mass Media and the Office for the Revitalization and Execution of Institutional Communication and Marketing of Administration (Grecima).

The first meeting took place last week in Benguela with professionals from the central-south region (Benguela, Huambo, Bié, Namibe, Huíla, Cunene, Cuanza Sul and Cuando Cubango).

The second was held last Wednesday, in the city of Malanje, with representatives of the provinces of the northeast and east (Malanje, Cuanza Norte, Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Uíge and Moxico).

José Luís de Matos said that the different media have the appropriate staff to carry out, in a competent and exemplary way, this mission entrusted to the journalistic class of the country.
