Covid-19: National Police arrest 295 people in 24 hours

Luanda - Two hundred and ninety-five citizens, including two officials with the opposition UNITA party, have been arrested in the past 24 hours by defence and security forces for violating the terms of the State of Emergency.


Data from national police released Friday put at 30 the number of people detained for  overloading passenger vehicles, six for activity related to motorbike taxi, 64 for disobedience, 78 for violation of the borders and 117 for unnecessary circulation.

According to Interior Ministry's spokesman Waldemar José, among the detainees, UNITA MP Maria Luísa de Andrade stands out, accused of having left the province of Luanda in "violation of the cordon sanitaire" of the country's capital, imposed by Presidential Decree No. 120/20.

Following this act, he declared that Maria Luísa de Andrade will have to observe a quarantine period at home.
 

Since April 26, all entries and exits from the Angolan capital are prohibited.
