Caxito - At least 164 families in the riverside area of Quixala, northern Bengo province receive Wednesday, plots of land for self-construction after losing their houses in May this year.

Each family is receiving one plot of land and 10 zinc sheets to help build their residence.

In this first phase, 40 plots will be distributed and in the second 120, granted by the Municipal Administration of Dande.

On that occasion, the governor of Bengo, Mara Quiosa, explained that the zone selected for the houses to be built has been chosen for the resettlement of the families, because it is close to basic social services like water, health center and schools.

The riverside area of Quixala, with 542 families, was affected by a water overflow from the Dande River in May, which forced citizens to abandon their homes to live in tents.
