Lucapa - The municipal administrator of Lucapa, Lunda Norte, Daniel Mutaza, has asked diamond mining companies operating in the county to support the authorities in creating biosecurity measures to combat the new Coronavirus (Covid-19), especially in the communities surrounding the mines.

At a meeting with seven representatives of the diamond mining companies in the constituency, the administrator asked them to support the schools, health posts and communities where the mines are located with biosecurity equipment, in view of the shortage in the administration's stock.

He also called on the companies to mobilise their health technicians to raise awareness in the communities, instructing them on biosecurity measures, especially the use of masks.

He stated that there is a need for the health technicians of these companies to be on standby in order to intervene and/or provide first aid in order to register any case in the surrounding communities and assist in the evacuation of patients through their ambulances.

The companies have undertaken to work with the municipal administration for this support.
