Luanda - Portugal and Brazil are at the top of the list of countries to which Angolan airline TAAG will gradually resume flights as of 21 September.

Presidential Decree 229/20, of 8 August, which updates the measures for the Situation of Public Calamity, sets for 14 September the gradual resumption of domestic flights and for 21 September the international flights.

The director of communication for the Angolan Transport Ministry, Manuel Júnior, said Thursday that TAAG would make three weekly flights from Angola to Lisbon and vice-versa, and one fortnightly to and from Brazil to Angola.

Manuel Júnior, who was speaking at a working meeting with representatives of public and private media outlets, noted that Portuguese airline TAP would fly the same number of flights from Lisbon to Luanda and vice versa.

For the time being, citizens will only travel for professional, business, study or health reasons, with tourist travel initially excluded, Júnior said.

As for domestic flights, the source said, they would start on 14 September, initially to the provinces of Benguela (Catumbela), Cabinda, Zaire (Soyo), Huambo and Huíla.

The first domestic flight is scheduled for next Monday, 14 September, to Cabinda.
