Luanda - The National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (INAMET) is forecasting minimum temperatures throughout the country for the cold (dry) season, which officially began on Wednesday (15), with the chilly weather varying between five and eight degrees Celsius in the central, eastern and southern provinces of Angola.
The northern provinces of Luanda, Bengo, Cuanza-Norte, Zaire and Cabinda are expected to have average minimum temperatures between 19 and 22 degrees Celsius.
In the same press release, INAMET warns of the growing number of respiratory illnesses and advises the population to protect themselves and adopt minimum precautions such as drinking plenty of water throughout the day, wearing clothes that cover the whole body, keeping the house clean regularly, exercising and eating a diet based on countryside produce.
The southern hemisphere (HS) winter season, popularly known as the “Cassimbo season” in Angola, lasts from 15 May to 15 August and is characterised by a lack of rainfall in most of the country, although until the end of May in some places in northern Angola, it is possible to record rainfall.
